Bret Michaels, former frontman of glam-rockers Poison, as well as star of reality TV show Bret Michaels: Life As I Know It is set to launch a two product lines: one for guitars and another for pets. Michaels landed a deal with the Home Shopping Network that is set to launch in 2012. The product line for animals is “Bret Michaels Pets Rock Collection,” products specifically made for animals. In a statement Michaels said “As a dedicated pet owner myself, this is a natural partnership for me, and I can’t wait to unveil the collection. I know my own pets rock, and I wanted to design a line of pet products every bit as fun and cool as they are.” It’s a smart move on Michaels’ end since pet ownership is serious business in America, about 62 percent of homes in America have some type of pet and 45 billion is spent on them each year. And a recent study found that pets are totally worth it. The study found that pet owners, especially dog owners, tended to be happier and less depressed. They also found that just thinking about Fido could help stave off feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Michaels is also releasing a series of custom guitars available through HSN. Which is great news since a new study found that musicians might have brains that function better than their peers well into old age.
